About the Project

After teaching an older version of this course, I was hired by Conestoga to redesign a Graduate Certificate Course, User Experience, taught in the Cloud Data Management program in the School of Workforce Development.

The goal for this course was to make all material current, balance practice and theory, and ensure it relates to the CDM program. Each week of the course aligns with a step in the iterative UX project process. Students gain hands-on experience with in-class workshops performed in Adobe XD, working their way up to each of the three main projects, ending the term with a polished prototype of a preselected custom-made case study, developed especially for this course. All course materials are accessible and copyright compliant.

Course Delivery Model:

Face-to-Face, synchronous delivery with 4 hours of class weekly (3 hours of face-to-face, 1 hour of asynchronous online study).

A title slide from the Week 2 class about visual design principle and best practices.
Title Slide of Week 2 Presentation.
A class presentation slide that is about applying visual design principles to UX Design.
Slide part of the Week 2 Presentation.

Project Results

There was a lot of content created for this course in a very short period of time. The students no longer need to follow a dated eText for completing weekly exercises, instead, will be doing hands-on learning together from workshops that have been developed especially for this course. There are components of this course that could be pivoted to a blended model, should this change ever be needed in the future.
