About the Project

Walk to Shop is a neighbourhood-focused project by NeighbourGood London (City of London) that has spanned a number of years to help people navigate to local shops within a given neighbourhood. First we completed this project for the neighbourhood of Byron, and a few years later for the North London neighbourhoods of Piccadilly & Bishop Hellmuth. We wrapped traffic light electrical boxes and created a folded paper map, both complete with a directory, a colour coded system and info about local history.

Project Results

The wayfinding graphics have a strong street presence to those passing by. The maps create a increased sense of community in these areas, educate tourists about where they are and operate as a placemaking element within the community.
